How is my retreat's price worked out?

Your retreat doesn't have one price of its own. Guests pick a room, and the price is that room's price per night times the number of nights. If the room is priced for Each person, it's also times the number of guests. Special prices you set on the calendar replace the normal price on those nights, and a discount comes off the total.

For retreat hosts. Menu: Your business → Properties for room prices, and Bookings & payouts → Calendar for special prices.

How the total is worked out

  1. The guest picks dates and a room on your retreat page.

  2. Each night costs the room's price per night, or its special price if you set one for that night.

  3. The room's This price is for setting decides who it covers:

    • Each person: the night's price is multiplied by the number of guests in the room.

    • The whole room or villa: the night's price is charged once, however many guests stay.

  4. If the guest books more than one room, the rooms are added together.

  5. If a discount fits the booking, the biggest one comes off. See "How do I set up a discount on my retreats?".

An example

  • A double room is $120 per night for Each person. Two guests stay 5 nights: $120 × 2 guests × 5 nights = $1,200.

  • The same room priced $200 for The whole room or villa: $200 × 5 nights = $1,000, for one guest or two.

Where to set each part

  • The normal price per night

    In the room itself: Your business → Properties, press Edit on the room. See "How do I change a room's price?".

  • A different price on some dates

    On the calendar. See "How do I charge a different price on some dates?".

  • Discounts

    Your business → Discounts.

  • Deposit and cancellation

    In the retreat's Booking conditions section.

Good to know

  • The room form shows a Total price guests see panel for each retreat that uses the property. For fixed dates it shows the whole stay. When guests choose how long to stay, it shows "from" the shortest stay.

  • The totals there are rounded down to whole numbers. Guests are charged the exact amount.

  • Our 10% commission is taken from what guests pay online, after any discount.

  • A retreat whose rooms have no price can't be booked.

  • Changing a price never changes bookings already made.

If something goes wrong

  • "This room has no price yet. Set a price per night in the room first."

    Open the room, fill in Price per night and save.

  • "Please enter a price per night"

    The room form needs a price before it saves.

  • A guest sees a different total from what I expected

    Check the room's This price is for setting, and look for special prices on those nights in the calendar (they show in bold).

Common questions

  • Can I set one price for the whole retreat?

    No. Price each room. For a fixed-length retreat, divide the package price by the number of nights.

  • Can I charge a single supplement?

    Not yet. You can set a Minimum Occupancy on a room instead. See "Can one guest book a double room alone?".

  • Which currency do guests pay in?

    The room's own currency. Guests may see an estimate in their currency while browsing.
