Photo guidelines for retreat listings

Resolution, composition, count and what to show.

Photos drive clicks. Even a great retreat with weak photos under-converts. Investing in one good photo session pays back across every booking.

Minimum count

  • Hero shot — the cover image.

  • Each room you sell — interior + bed shot.

  • Practice space (yoga deck, meditation room, treatment room).

  • Food — meals on the table, kitchen shot.

  • Common areas — lounge, dining, outdoor spaces.

  • Surroundings — views, garden, beach if relevant.

Quality bar

  • Minimum 1920×1280, ideally larger.

  • Natural light, not flash.

  • Tidy spaces — clear surfaces, made beds, no clutter.

  • Real photos — no stock images.

  • Add alt text to every photo (helps accessibility and ranking).

Tips

  • Hire a photographer once for 4–6 hours. Re-shoot every 2 years.
