How do I block nights on my calendar?

Open your Calendar, pick the nights in a room's row, and press ✕ Block these nights in the column on the right. Guests can't book that room on those nights until you open them again. To hold back places on a retreat rather than a room, use Block spots instead.

For retreat hosts. Account owners and managers can block nights; staff can't. Menu: Bookings & payouts → Calendar.

Before you start

  • You need at least one property with rooms. Rooms appear on the calendar grouped under their property.

  • If you are a team member and you can't pick nights, your role is Staff. Ask the account owner to change it.

Block nights in a private room

  1. In the menu, go to Bookings & payouts → Calendar. The calendar shows 14 days at a time. Each row is a room, and each square is one night.

  2. Use Earlier and Later to move a week back or forward, or Today to come back to today.

  3. Click the first night you want to block in the room's row. To pick several nights, click and drag along the row. Click a picked night again to take it out. The nights you picked are highlighted.

  4. The column on the right shows the room's name, the nights you picked, and their status: Available, Blocked by you or Some blocked.

  5. Press the ✕ button (Block these nights). The status changes to Blocked by you.

  6. Optional: press Add a note, type a reason of up to 100 characters (only you see it), and press Save.

  7. Press the round × button at the top of the column to close it.

Block nights in a dorm

  1. Click any night on the dorm's row. A panel opens showing how many beds are free that night.

  2. Press Block nights.

  3. Choose From (the first night) and Until. Until is the morning the dorm opens again, so to block the nights of 3, 4 and 5 May, choose From 3 May and Until 6 May.

  4. Optional: add a Note (only you see it).

  5. Press Block nights. This takes every bed in the dorm for those nights.

Open blocked nights again

  • Private room: pick the blocked nights in the row and press the ✓ button (Open these nights).

  • Any room or dorm: click the grey block in the row, then press Lift block.

Block spots on a retreat

Use this to hold back places on a retreat without closing a particular room.

  1. Press Block spots at the top of the Calendar. (You only see it once you have a published retreat.)

  2. In the Block capacity window, choose the Retreat.

  3. Choose From and Until. The Until day itself is not blocked: it's the first day the spots are free again.

  4. Enter Spots to block. The window shows the retreat's Max capacity as a guide. Add a Note if you like.

  5. Press Block dates. The blocked spots show as a grey bar in the Retreats strip at the top of the calendar. Click the bar to lift them.

Good to know

  • Blocking stops new bookings for that room on those nights. It never cancels or changes a booking that already exists.

  • You can't pick a night that already has a guest's booking or a synced event on it.

  • Blocking doesn't change the room's price. Prices are set separately.

  • Notes are private. Guests never see them or the reason a night is closed.

  • There is no single switch to block a whole property. Block the nights in each room's row.

  • If you took a booking by phone or in person, add it as a booking instead. It holds the room under the guest's name. No payment is taken and no email is sent.

If something goes wrong

  • "That room was just taken for those nights"

A guest booked while you were choosing. The calendar reloads; pick the nights again.

  • "Room not found"

The room was deleted, or you no longer have access to it. Reload the page.

  • "Could not load the room timeline. Try again in a moment."

The calendar couldn't load. Wait a moment and reload.

  • "No published retreats found."

Shown in the Block capacity window. Block spots only works on published retreats.

  • "Something went wrong. Please try again."

Try again. If it keeps happening, email us.

Common questions

  • Can guests see why I blocked a night?

No. Guests only see that the room isn't available.

  • Does blocking cancel a booking?

No. Nights with a booking can't be picked.

  • What's the difference between blocking nights and Block spots?

Blocking nights closes one room. Block spots takes places off a retreat's headcount. See "Should I block nights in a room or block spots on a retreat?".

  • Will a blocked night stop bookings on other sites?

Only if those sites read your availability link. See "How do I sync my calendar with Airbnb, Booking.com or Google Calendar?".
