Finding Retreats lets you browse in your preferred currency. The actual charge happens in the host's currency, with your bank handling the FX.
How display currency works
In account settings, you pick a display currency. All prices on listings convert to that currency using live exchange rates, updated daily. The conversion is approximate — your card statement may show a slightly different amount.
Charge currency
At checkout, we show both the display currency and the charge currency. Your card is charged in the charge currency. Your bank converts to your home currency, often with a small foreign-transaction fee (1–3%).
Tips
For large bookings, a card with no foreign-transaction fee saves real money.
Compare the displayed amount with the post-FX amount on your statement to estimate your bank's spread.
