What guests expect from a retreat

Industry norms for communication, accommodation, food and schedule.

Most guest disappointment comes from misaligned expectations, not bad retreats. Knowing what guests expect — and where the bar is set — helps you over-deliver.

Communication

  • Reply within 24 hours, faster ideally.

  • Send pre-arrival info 1–2 weeks before.

  • Be reachable during the stay.

Accommodation

  • Beds are made on arrival, towels provided.

  • Hot water and reliable electricity.

  • Wi-Fi available unless explicitly a digital-detox.

  • A safe place for valuables.

Food

  • Three meals plus snacks (unless the schedule says otherwise).

  • Dietary needs accommodated as agreed.

  • Clear timing — meals don't shift wildly.

Programme

  • The schedule runs as listed.

  • Sessions start and end on time.

  • Substitutes for missed sessions when possible.
